We’ve Settled at Puri Alam Bali, a Little Slice of Paradise in Munduk

The view here is simply breathtaking, overlooking the valley with its terraced rice fields, and in the distance, mountains whose peaks sometimes disappear into the clouds. The temperature is cooler here, and let’s be honest—it’s a welcome relief after the sweltering heat in some parts of Bali!

A Warm Welcome!

The staff at Puri Alam Bali were incredibly friendly. Initially, we had booked two separate rooms, but they kindly arranged for us to stay together in a bungalow!

Trekking Duo: Julien and Martin, the Adventurers!

Today, Julien and Martin embarked on a three-hour trek to explore the famous waterfalls of Munduk. And believe it or not, Martin walked almost the entire way—despite steep inclines, countless steps, and sometimes rugged trails! This little guy is a true adventurer in the making. The hike was absolutely worth it—the waterfalls were stunning, with a refreshing breeze at the base of some of them. A magnificent natural spectacle that we could admire for hours.

A Well-Deserved Treat at Café Eco 2

After the effort comes the reward! We discovered a hidden gem just a short walk from our stay: Café Eco 2. We loved it so much that we went back twice—if that tells you anything! The restaurant has a terrace with an incredible view of the valley, and the food is just as amazing as the scenery.

For the kids, it was chicken satay with rice and a delicious peanut sauce. As for us, we indulged in Babi Ketjap, tender slices of pork in an incredible sweet sauce, served with rice, of course. And the desserts… :-P Banana fritters and mini green pancakes (thanks to pandan, a tropical plant), sprinkled with fresh coconut shavings. A real treat for our taste buds!

Learning, Our Own Way

Between adventures, we still make time for some "school" activities with the kids. It’s always fun to quiz them on what they’ve learned—trees, fruits, or even counting things around them. And the funniest part? They instinctively raise their hands before answering, just like in class! :-)

Next Stop: West Bali

After these adventures in the highlands, it’s time to head back down to the sea, where the temperatures will rise and water activities will take center stage. Turtles, beaches, and relaxing under the sun await us in West Bali.

A Little Writing Ritual

We try to write every three or four days to capture every detail of our journey. The little moments, the funny stories, and the places we visit deserve to be recorded somewhere. Who knows? Maybe (probably) all of this will become a book when we return—a true treasure trove of memories.

Planning in Peace

Between explorations, we’ve taken some time to plan out a good part of our Indonesia trip. And guess what? We’ve even started mapping out some things for Australia… but shhh, we’ll tell you more about that soon!
